November 2008

Sue Wannop reported that an initial £25,000 was available from the Community Fund in the first year to be used for community projects on Great Park. Each project will be allowed to bid for a maximum of £3,000. Application details will be posted when we receive them. If the first year is deemed a success, further funding would be available.

The City Council is to take responsibility for controlling parking on Great Park although the date is yet to be announced. This may mean the enforcement of laws and restrictions.

The issue of blocked drains is with the Consortium. A response is awaited.

The issue of the M46 bus service is also under investigation by the City Council.

The Consortium is about to produce a plan for environmental improvements.

The questionnaires on traffic management circulated by the Association have been a great success with a high level of response. Those responses are now being studied in detail by the Council. But it is already known that 68pc of respondents are in favour of the introduction of traffic calming measures.

We had hoped to hold a Christmas event/fair on Featherstone Green, but because of the problems involved in meeting the necessary regulation, this has not been possible. Attention will switch to a Spring event. It has been suggested that Community Fund cash might be available for such an event.
